So it's time to pop over to Laura's friend and family who are all at home for a while. When at secondary school Laura felt like Maryam's house was her second home and always made this cake at Christmas/New Year. So now she's in Melbourne I keep the tradition going and it's lovely to catch up.
The cake is a Dutch recipe which we were given in 1996! We had a lovely girl from The Netherlands staying with us for 3 months, developing her English language skills for business at the hospital in Aberdeen. Marieke brought one when she arrived, it was her Grandmother's recipe, and we loved it and have made them for many occasions! And now Susannah is in regular touch with her over in The Hague.
Three good things
1. No sign of ice today.
2. I've been adding Christmas things all around the house after watching 'Scotland's Christmas Home of the Year' on BBC Scotland last night....not quite going to the grand extremes!!
3. Better get moving...sitting here on a grey day brings the 'miss you' feelings when all the B Team are far away. But just got a lovely photo of Jonathan with Neil visiting Grannie B in Glasgow ...cheered me up!! Smiles all round.
Thank you for your lovely comments. Happy Christmas to you and all your loved ones.
