Haddo House Chapel and tea by sarah19

Haddo House Chapel and tea

My friend Sue and I went to the service at Haddo House Chapel this evening. In the summer months (!) there is a service on the first Sunday evening (and every Sunday evening in August) with different preachers leading.
At 5pm tea and coffee is served in the library and then the service begins at 6pm in the chapel. All very lovely and quite grand in some ways!
And there's a real sense of carrying on the best traditions of the family. The 'new' Lady Aberdeen shook hands with each of us, as did the visiting preacher. The previous Lady Aberdeen - who died 3 years ago aged 96 - had been a positive influential figure in the local community and beyond, introducing music and drama festivals and events including the Haddo House Choral and Operatic Society. As she and her husband had no children of their own (though had 4 adopted children) the title has passed to a nephew.
We met some interesting people at the Chapel Tea! One had been a nanny at Haddo for a period and seemed to know everyone who was there!
Simply wonderful collage Sarah.....Beautifuly done! : )
