Waiting Patiently

These old folk are cement figures we bought some years ago and put on a rustic bench outside our lounge door. They represent how I had to spend a few hours from before it was light this morning - waiting in the queues at the Govt Hospital for my mother's appointment. After more than 2 hours moving up seat by seat, it was announced that the doctor had been called away to an emergency and we could either get another appointment, or wait indefinitely. After that I had to rush back to clean the flat for incoming weekend guests, so I went to get another appointment for her.
how frustrating!

How fun! I love them. Do they have names?

@bf2016 Thanks Barbara. Yes we love them too, so we couldn't resist buying them. They weren't sold as a pair, but they seemed to be a perfect match. My husband named them. The woman is Jemima, and I think the man is Frikkie

@narayani Yes, it is frustrating, but at least I'm there to help her. Our Govt Hospital and Clinic system leaves a lot to be desired, but for folk who have very little money, at least they get to have almost free medical attention. It just means long queues and lots of waiting to get that care.

@seacreature we have a similar system here, and though the waits can be trying, free medical care is a massive gift.

@narayani You are so right. I am very grateful my parents are able to get basic medical care at very cheap prices.
