Such a lump in my throat. It was a happy / sad moment when I decided to dig up these plants that seemed to be drying up no matter how much water I put on them ..... and discovered all this gorgeous garlic. Dad would have been so proud to have harvested this garlic. When we came here the soil was just beach sand and almost nothing but spinach grew, but he has improved it over the past 6 years with his own homemade compost, and finally his garlic has done brilliantly!
@beckyk365 Yes, it was there all the time waiting for me to dig it up. And yes, another gift from my Dad. My mother is doing okay, thank you, considering she has just lost her lifetime partner of 60 years. She is still a bit tearful at times, and I don't think she is eating properly yet, or sleeping well, but she is trying to carry on as normal.
That is fabulous looking garlic. The plants naturally dry up and then you know it's ready to dig up. Save some to replant each year as a lovely tribute to your dad x
