Goodbye Johannesburg, the city of gold mines and mine dumps, and mining head-gear. Modern mining headgear looks pretty boring so I have wanted for ages to find some old, romantic, mining head gear. Had a brief opportunity to get a few shots as we passed by this mine leaving Johannesburg this morning.
@777margo Thank you Margo. @narayani I'm sure I could've spent an hour or two trying different angles if I only had the time - and of course if I could get access to get inside that fence! @anniesue Absolutely right. The modern boxy things hold no fascination or interest for me.
@beckyk365 Thanks Becky. I don't know for sure if it is operating or not. I didn't see any people around, but there is security fencing and big gates ... it didn't have a deserted look about it.
