Day 1 of my 2 day drive back home. Stopped at this service station for no reason other than to video call Maddy before her nap time and to walk the dogs around a bit. Fuel and toilet too expensive here so I waited a couple of hundred kilometers to see to my own needs along the way
@narayani Most service stations on the national routes - especially the Shell Ultra City or Engen 1-stops and similar have free toilet facilities, but there are some smaller ones where they have a turnstile with a small charge to open the turnstile. This is great because it stops the facility being abused by the "mobs" travelling in cheap buses or taxis. But the place with the llamas was just expensive. They even wanted to charge to park your car - there was a big sign where I stopped saying it was a Pay Zone, but I didn't see anyone monitoring it and I didn't go into the shop to pay. I once put fuel in my car there and found it was R1/litre more expensive than the government regulated price being charged anywhere else.
