Wild Dogs

My daughter treated me to a few days in Kruger Park. My first visit back to a much loved place in about 20 years so it was very exciting for me. I love the bush. And the wild dog sighting was an absolute treat.
I have dozens of appalling photos to delete, and other disappointing ones - I have so much to learn about taking photos of wild animals in the bush where there are no second chances of getting it right when you spot an animal moving or running. And when you have to try and get the shot through the car window when the opportunity arises. But I had decided ahead of time it was all about the experience not the photos, and any decent photos would be a bonus.
what an experience! that dog at the back seems to have a nasty wound. You should see how many photos I reject when I do find a koala awake and moving about as they can suddenly be moving fast! no wonder photography was so expensive, or you needed your own dark room back in the day of having to develop prints!

@koalagardens Thank you so much. Glad to hear I am not the only one with what seems like dozens and dozens of photos with blur or the back half of an animal disappearing out the frame.

That poor dog does seem to have a nasty wound, it's difficult to capture them in the wild without cutting off something. I did it so often.

We have the same camera Desi, I always use tv, ai servo and continuous high speed, that's about the only way to get a decent shot of animals. Give it a go ;-)

@ludwigsdiana Thanks for that Diana. I was using manual the entire time. I thought today after we were leaving I should actually get some practice using tv to make exposure a bit easier, especially as conditions were changing all the time from dark and overcast to patches of sunlight. Hopefully there will be another visit to Kruger Park before too long. This has really whet my appetite to go there again.

@narayani Thank you. Yes an experience like this is the best possible gift. I have too much stuff to want any more stuff.
