Ratcliffe Power Station ~ normal exposure by seanoneill

Ratcliffe Power Station ~ normal exposure

Another shot from my long exposure expedition yesterday.

Just in case any of you are worried about the pollution on my doorstep, the big chimney has an DGD plant attached to it, a Flue Gas Desulphurisation plant, an dthe smaller cooling powers are pumping out water vapour. I am reliably informed!!

The Chimney always reminds me of a huge cigarette puffing away, which always gets me thinking of the song King of the Road...

Thanks for the great feedback on my shots from yesterday, I made the PP again, 3 times in a week, after no PPs for a couple of months :-) 'Tis a funny thing the PP, in my first year it was always a target to make the PP and TT, but now that I am not that worried if I get there it always delights me when I do!!

We are off to a bonfire party and I am not taking my camera. Well I may pop it in the boot with my tripod, just in case it is good form!! Have fun anyone else in the UK celebrating Guy Fawkes Night. Stay safe.

I managed to catch up with about half my friends projects today, just working my way up from the bottom of the list. I will try and get to the rest of you tomorrow.
Really like this. The clarity and b&w is fantastic.

Nicely done Sean

Love this, especially how you've captured all the smoke.

The tones in the smoke and vapour give them real form, they look almost like huge tufts of cotton wool. As ever, great b&w

FAV on an amazing shot, Sean.

Also very interesting and beautiful. I am partial to the long exposure one. It is interesting to see the differences.

As you show so well Sean, power stations are such great subjects, particularly in the winter.
Another great composition. How far are you away from it here?

Love how you edit your b&w shots. The clouds always look so fantastic.

Ok now I am seeing a classic temperature inversion and thinking the shot could be useful for my lectures! Yes the pollution on your door step will be from some bodies wood burner....

Super smooth mono capture. Well done on PPs!

Congrats on the well deserved PPs and on another great b&w power station image here!

Congratulations on PP for yesterday's stunning Ratcliffe photo - I think it's my favourite of all of them.

Well done on all your pp's, much deserved in my opinion. I really like the composition in this with the emphasis on the sky and the thick plume of smoke. I see this power station every day on the school run and often think of your images of it.

Looks completely different as a normal capture, still interesting, but not as schmicko as the long exposure (to me).

A good lesson in how to create different images by varying exposure. The long exposure image has a more mysterious look that I enjoy a bit more.

I really like this shot. So much space but lots of power billowing out of those towers along the bottom of the shot. Fav!
