Loughborough backstreets ~ 13 by seanoneill

Loughborough backstreets ~ 13

A row of businesses on Nottingham Rd in Loughborough on this very grey, wet, awful day!

An electrical engineers, a watch and clock repairer, a money transfer service, a laundry and ironing business and an Indian restaurant.

I am conscious that my shots may make Loughborough look an unwelcoming and bleak place. It isn't, I assure you.
Lovely nostalgic feel to this. Wonderful processing Sean!

Well, it does look a bit bleak in this picture but that's what gray skies and rain do -- it's a great shot and catches the atmosphere of a small town on a rainy day.

I don't feel unwelcomed at all. To American eyes, this is all picturesque.

I tried taking something similar yesterday but struggled with lots of cars in the way. @rvwalker your comment made me laugh!

@rachelwithey Good, Rachel. We can all use a good laugh now and then. I lived in East Suffolk back in the 60's and loved it. The architecture and history are so different than here in the American west, that I never got tired of it.

Having led a sheltered life in West Sussex, south coast, going to Leicester was an awful shock in my early 20s. This image conveys the reality!

@rvwalker Did you ever get to West Sussex. south coast?

@ivan No, unfortunately. Back in those days I didn't have much traveling money, but did manage a great trip to Scotland.

this could almost have been taken any time in the last 50 years - but the wool shop would still have been there
