These power lines march across the countryside a couple of fields from our house, but surpringly we dont see them. I sometimes take photos and dont realise that I have included a pylon or two until I view the photo on a larger screen. In the UK there is currently (!) a debate about the power lines required to serve the increasing number of windfarms, which are usually located in areas of outstanding natural beauty. Pylons are the most economical to install, but are not exactly discrete.Opponents argue that underground power lines are cheaper in the long term.
