Dying embers in our woodburner mark the end of the evening. Unlike many stoves, we can't keep ours "in" overnight by shutting off most of the air and leaving a large log to smoulder overnight, ready to burst into flames when the stove is opened in the morning. If we put a lrage log on, it burnt out by morning, but we do have a cosy warm room when we get up. And the cats appreciate it.
