The Best Laid Plans of Mice And Men Oft Go Astray

I don’t normally plan my photography – I just take advantage of opportunities that arise. Today I decided that I wanted to repeat photographs taken last year, of the of the reflected sunrise in the misty still water of a nearby large pond. The forecast was for a misty cold start, and so I was up and about early to capture the sunrise. Not as early as planned – with dogs at my feet, and cat on my lap as I drank my morning cup of tea why rush into a cold grey dawn? I stopped to photograph the moon descending behind Croft Hill. I stopped three times to photograph the sun rising over the surrounding frosty landscape. I broke into a run since the sun had already risen and I might miss the planned shot. The sun disappeared behind the horizon again as I descended to the pond, only to find the pond frozen, no mist and no reflections. Nevertheless I spent a happy few minutes with the camera anyway. The dogs love the 365 project – their walks are so much longer. I think I’ll stick with opportunistic photographs in future. They are less stressful.
great shot FAV
