The view from the front of the hotel, where each morning we caught a mini bus to the gondoler station, to be transported up to the ski resort, 500m above the village. On my last ski trip our chalet was only a few metres from the main lift up the mountain – much more convenient. European pistes are graded green (easy), through blue and red to black (scary!). With only one week of skiing experience, over two years ago, I expected to stay on blues all day, but had done my first red run by lunchtime, albeit a nice wide one, with plenty of room to turn.
