Oak stump

The oak stump in front of our home. We had the tree felled after we moved in. Removing a mature oak was sad, but the branches were up against the windows, and even after severe pruning all light on the southerly front of the house would have been been obstructed, making the house really gloomy. There are other mature oaks along the lane, and the neighbours were pleased. They had previously had a lot of leaves to shift from drives and gutters every autumn. The stump is still healthy, and we now have a vigorous oak bush at the front of the house.

I'm glad you have given this stump a little moment of fame, it's always comforting when sprouts start appearing again, we had the same with a much loved willow tree.
