We went to a “Falconry Experience” day today – no hunting, just handling the birds, and flying one of them. This is a Bay Winged Hawk, or Harris Hawk (the naming of hawks and falcons is a bit confusing) heading for the gloved hand of someone in our group. It was fantastic to have such a beautiful bird swoop down almost to ground level, and then rising up to land on your hand for a reward of a small piece of raw chicken.
