Remembering

One of the new blocks on the Twin Towers site. We didn’t visit the memorial itself – at present it is rows of plaques with details of those who lost their lives on “9/11”. Instead, on a recommendation, we visited St Pauls Church, adjacent to the site, that survived intact, and was used as a refuge and place of sanctuary by the rescue workers and relatives. It was very very moving. There were details and photos of some of the bereaved, together with messages, left by relatives after the attack, in the hope that someone recognised them. They all seemed so young. There was a letter from a remote call centre of one of the companies in Twin Towers who had received calls from workers in the Towers who were trying to get messages to their loved ones. We were both moved to tears. Anyone visiting the area should visit this church.
Stunning shot with wonderful reflections. In itself, a potent reminder of the lives lost.
