These steps lead down to a pond and adjacent gravel path, which at worst has been several inches under water, and at best covered by mud washed over it by flooding from the nearby river. Today however it was neither – it was frozen, and we were able to comfortably walk along the edge of the pond taking photos of frosty grasses and reeds. Sadly it was a grey morning, with no sun to add sparkle to frozen vegetation
