I’ve known the water in in the flooded fields to be deeper, but never for as long. We usually get a few days of flooded fields each season, but this year the ground is permanently sodden, as I am sure is the case in most of the UK, which means that only a few hours of rainfall results in standing water. At least around here the water is not catastrophically deep, and, rain permitting, it mostly drains away as quickly as it arrives.
Winter Waterland - just like round here. I agree it is thankfully draining away fairly ok now thanks to the drier intervals inbetween the rain - but I am so tired of the constant muddiness of the fields and paths, I've only got a whippet (very fine short coat) but still have to spend ages de-muddying him so I can't imagine what other longer haired dogs must be like!
