Another barn-based photo – this is one of the trees inside what is left of the old barn by the field track behind our home. Despite the shelter provided on at least two sides by brick walls, this branch, which had been standing proud of the roofline, was broken off by recent winds, crashing down and settling next to the main trunk of the fallen tree. The weather has changed as expected, with a bitter wind until we reach the shelter provided by a spinney at the bottom of the fields. The wind is not only cold – it is dry, which is having a beneficial effect by drying up much of the surface mud.
