An isolated bean plant on the field track behind our home. With rape on one side, and maize on the other, it hasn’t escaped for the adjacent fields. Presumably the farming contractor had previously drilled a field of cattle beans, and this one fell off the tractor or drill. It did well to germinate and thrive – some of the local rape fields are very sparse this year, with large bare areas thanks to the early spring rain, followed by late spring cold.
