I am sure that the quantity of water falling from the sky onto each square metre of wild grasses is somehow doubles when that same water is subsequently transferred from the wild grasses onto my trousers. Even wearing wellies, I arrive home saturated from the waist downwards. Don’t get me wrong – this is infinitely preferable to the squelch and mud of last year.
