This really seems to be the year of the cabbage white butterfly. Dozens flutter up above the vegetation when they have been disturbed by the dogs, particularly where there are wild grasses and flowers, or in this case oat “volunteers” sprouted from the seeds of a previous season’s crop, between the footpath and the field crop. Whereas peacocks and red admirals catch the eye in the garden, in the countryside the delicate cabbage white butterflies dominate, almost mirroring a similar comparison between garden blooms and the more subtle wild flowers
What a great shot. So hard to get these white butterflies they seem to hardly settle. This whole picture has such a lovely softness and beautiful toning to it but still detail of the butterfly and leaves. Fav
A beautiful shot, very pretty on the oats. A really lovely capture. We have had masses of them here too, sometimes a group of 4-6 dancing in the air above the flower beds.
