Aquatic manoeuvres by shepherdman

Aquatic manoeuvres

Another boating themed image, but this one is 200 miles to the east of my previous image, and these are definitely leisure craft, not working boats. A week or so after our Cornish holiday we spent a weekend with family in Hampshire, and went for a stroll along the shore of the Solent, the narrow strip of sea between the mainland of the UK and the Isle of Wight off of the south coast. These small sailing dinghies seem to be dancing around each other in an aquatic version of Strictly Come Dancing (which, for those not in the UK, is a very popular celebrity television dancing competition, particularly enjoyed by husbands because they get an hour or so of peace and quiet to pursue their own activities - but don’t tell @shepherdmanswife that I said that…). Anyway, we discovered that the sailors were actually racing when we realised that the periodic ear piercing screech of an air-horn from the nearby sailing club house coincided with individual dinghies passing a particular buoy, which marked the end of the timed race.
Beautiful and colorful capture.

Really nice shot. Are they really that color or is it a processing? In anyway, the photo is beautiful!

@deniseescovino No - they really were that colour. A bank of dark clouds blowing in over the Isle of Wight behind, while the foreground was still quite bright, added contrast. Thanks for the comment
