With careful timing, and a leisurely pre-dawn breakfast, morning dog walks are in the light – but only just, and only on a clear morning. The weather has been remarkably mild, and it has been pleasant walking down the field track behind our home as the sky lightens and the sun finally struggles blearily out of bed, poking its nose above the hill around the quarry.
The clocks are turned back tonight (as I write), which give a short extended period daylight morning walks, before darkness returns, no doubt along with winter weather, and getting out of bed, let alone getting out of the house with the dogs before work, is a real chore. That’s when it is good to browse the 365 images from the southern hemisphere, a reminder that if we all hang on in there, spring will be along in due course.
