Final fruit

This last apple on our neighbour’s tree must have been just out of reach from his ladder. My neighbour inherited this tree when he bought the house, although I think that he also has some old varieties donated by a mutual friend of ours who specialises in maintaining a stock of traditional apples. For anyone who is an apple enthusiast I heartily recommend our mutual friend's web site http://www.suttonelms.org.uk/APPLE1.HTML
Lovely picture! I went through a phase of "apple spotting" earlier this autumn - there are so many varieties - much more varied a fruit than you think - but only a very limited number make it into the shops.

Wow, what mossy branches! Is that moss? Really makes the apple stand out.

The green is algae - rewards tree climbers with smears of green powder on their clothes!
