An early morning walk after a wet night, and the footpaths through the wildlife areas around the quarry were populated with slugs crossing from one side to the other, since clearly the grass was greener on the other side. There must have been a least one slug every metre or so, nearly all of them this brown variety, each wearing a frilly skirt.
