After a 565 mile drive along the Trans-Canada Highway (no journey in the UK would include a Satnav instruction “continue for 287 miles”) we arrived in Banff to be greeted by a distinctly Christmassy scene, and woke the following morning to a winter wonderland after an unseasonably early snowfall. I was out and about with my camera around the hotel, at the edge of Banff, while @shepherdmanswife was still showering, photographing the surrounding snow laden trees and snowy high peaks. During our trip we heard news reports of chaos in Calgary due to the snow, which, having fallen in the Fall, rather the cold depths of winter, was heavier than the usual light powdery stuff experienced in the area, and was causing all sorts of transport problem. Yes folks – that’s the stuff that we Brits get in winter, with just a few inches slowing everything up.
What a fabulous time to visit Banff - how lucky the timing was. Absolutely beautiful shot - and those colors are awesome. Love blue skies like this against a snow scene
Beautiful. Snow comes early in the high Rockie mountains. Not sure if they are still the Rockies up there but think so. I've never been to Banff but would like to go some day.
