Only my wife could colour co-ordinate with a Lake…
This is probably my favourite Rockies image. The high point of our trip to Jasper, literally, was Bow Summit, where a path led from a car park to a viewing point overlooking Peyto Lake. The wooden platform looking over the valley was full, with at least two coach loads of visitors. A group of young folk were YEE-HA” ing, as young folk on that side of the Big Pond often do, no doubt celebrating the fact that they had actually survived a walk of half a mile from the car park. The atmosphere was awful.
On the advice of our guide book we continued along the path to a narrow track of trodden snow, which wound its way through trees, emerging onto a rocky platform high above the head of the valley, with a breath-taking view. There was just the two of us in such a wonderful place, which is why this is my favourite image, Our only companions were ground squirrels running up to us in the hope of food, hamster-like short tailed picas scurrying among the rocks, and some ravens. It was peaceful and the view was incredible. Totally awesome in it’s true sense.
She couldn't have chosen a better T-shirt! I do like people being in these sort of photos provided they don't compete with the colour of the lake! Honestly - this is LOL!
This is a great photo. I had the pleasure of traveling from Jasper to Banff once. Awesome, the real definition, was a word that kept running through my mind. Took my breath away. You captured some of that feeling in this photo.
How nice to have this view to yourself!
