We caught one of the last chair lifts back down, and this couple, making the most of the view across to Lake Louise, must have been the last to leave the upper gondola station above the village. We had enjoyed a similar view from the nearby restaurant balcony, where we were fortunate enough to have a table at the edge of the balcony. @shepherdmanswife decided that the view would be a nice backdrop to a photo of us both, and so, in front of a dozen tables of diners also trying to enjoy the view, she set up her tripod, and commanded me to “stand just there – stop moving – yes you are moving - no left a bit – right a bit – no it was better first time, go back – not that far, there has to be room for me – that’s it – don’t move – I said don’t move – stand still”. The other diners found this all most amusing, especially when @shepherdmanswife ran to join me, only to find the timer had been set at 2 seconds for an earlier tripod shot, and we got a shot of @shepherdmanswife’s backside. I didn’t move a muscle, keeping my frozen smile at the diners, as the timer was re-set, and we got our “selfie”
You are to be commended sir. How wonderful to find that even great photographers like you forget the settings sometimes. I have a remote shutter for my camera which is great for such things. No more running to get into the picture with that fake smile on my face. Did that so often when my dh was alive.
Wonderful capture!! I just had to call my sister to see this as it reminded me of the time we were there. I had to force her to go up in the gondola as she was a bit nervous but she has always said it was so worth it for that fabulous view when you got to the top!! Fav!
Amazing view and what a funny story! I think sometimes we get too involved with our cameras and gettig the shot that we forget to enjoy ourselves and just take in the view!
