Thanks to our pre-breakfast trip to Lake Louise where @shepherdmanswife spent quite some time not photographing a sunrise, we set off East along the Trans-Canada Highway back to Vancouver much later than intended. Despite this, within an hour we were pulled up behind a line of cars at the road side to photograph a herd of elk on a gravel island in a river alongside the highway, and 20 minutes later we turned back to the car to see the red flashing lights of a Police car immediately behind our vehicle. @shepherdmanswife was convinced that we were being booked for stopping on the Highway - after all, with several vehicles parked further along the road, why else would the Police have chosen to pull up behind ours? She had visions of spending our diminishing store of dollars on an on-the-spot-fine. I pointed out that our car just happened to be at the back of the line of cars, and no doubt the Highways Officer was merely warning passing vehicles that irresponsible tourists were randomly sprinting across the Highway, with eyes fixed on elk, not traffic. As we got closer the Officers in the vehicle behind ours revealed themselves to be Park Rangers, probably more concerned for the welfare of the elk than daft tourists.
You two must spend ages looking at your photographs and deciding what to post amongst so many good ones! This one is different from Mrs S but shows a natural communication!
