We have been having gorgeous weather since our return to the UK, more like late summer than mid-autumn. The weather has been so warm and pleasant that @shepherdmanswife has volunteered to join me and the dogs for our morning walks during the last two weekends. It’s amazing how the number of household chores that just must be done is inversely proportional to the temperature outside.
I encourage @shepherdmanswife by letting her choose the route, and this is a favourite, down the footpath to the village and then branching off to what we call “Millennium Wood”, but which is in fact the original cricket field, full of mature oaks (which must have made fielding during the games of cricket interesting). More trees were planted around the edges in 2000 to celebrate the Millenium, and the area is managed by the Woodland Trust. It is a lovely field in sunny weather, especially in autumn, plenty of space for the dogs to run around, and plenty of photo-opportunities for us two. And it is less than 5 minutes from the pub, although sadly on this occasion we were there before opening time. Maybe next week.
We had wonderful weather the first few weeks now it is turning cold and a threat of snow for the weekend. So enjoy your nice weather while it lasts because the number of household chores is like to increase.
Looks a beautiful place, especially with the light through the leaves. Great that they are still planting trees, we need to leave something for the generations to come.
