Another dip into the “365 potential” folder, taken on a morning walk a week or so ago, catching the reflected sunlight in the pool just a few seconds before the tranquil water was violently disturbed by the excited splashing of a large exuberant dog with a curly tail. Once Tia was in the water she continued with her aquabatics until we left the waterlogged field. This pool is now much bigger thanks to recent rain, but the ground is drying slowly. Now that the weather has turned colder it takes just a few hours of rain to turn the surface into a squishy wet sponge, slick with mud where the grass is sparse. In the summer it takes days of rain to produce such conditions, and just a couple of hours of sunshine to dry the ground. With careful route planning I can get the dogs home clean, if not actually dry, but if we get just a few more days rain there will be post-walkies hosing on every occasion. Fortunately the foreseeable future is forecast to be dry.
