Walks have been soggy underfoot and muddy under paw, at today it has been that miserable combination of wind and rain, almost, but not quite, cold enough to turn the rain to snow. We did have some sleep this afternoon – horrible indecisive stuff. I wish it would just make up its mind and either turn wet or snowy. Working at home yesterday, and so I could keep an eye on the weather, managing a couple of hours in the study (I’m fortunate to have “my” own small study where the dogs and I retire to escape @shepherdmanswife ’s soap operas) while the sun decided whether to bother getting up today. It did emerge, and we had a lovely walk in bright, but cold sunshine, photographing these tree trunks close to the catkins posted yesterday. The weather deteriorated later, a day of sleet and rain, leaving the path down to the village distinctly squidgy. Last night was “dog walking night”, when the two dogs get a second walk, joining my friends and me on a stroll along this path to the village pub. Last night we left aging long haired German Shepherd Lesia at home in the dry and warm – better for her and for the pub carpet.
