There are times when you just have to make the most of an opportunity. A few weeks ago I took the dogs out for their evening walk, and, as usual for this time of the year, it was dark, with the dogs only visible as red (Lesia) and white (Tia) flashing lights circling each other, occasionally heading away in the darkness, but still visible as pin-points of light that grew larger again as the dogs returned to me, the lights moving from side to side, swinging on the dogs’ collars as they galloped towards me. I was equipped with a head torch, and spotted this mushroom (or toadstool?) in the long grass. I don’t take my SLR on night time walks, and so was about to walk on, when I remembered that I had gone straight out with the dogs after cycling home, and that my compact Panasonic camera is always on my belt when I am on my bike. And so this was a simple point and flash job, using, I am afraid, the “green square” that just lets the camera do the work.
Love your stories, as always, we are right there with you - watching the circling firefly-like lights on the dogs' collars, hearing the squelch of the moist ground under your feet. And then you stumble upon a toadstool - great shot and magical end to your evening outing.
