Autumn mist softens the silhouette of the old barn as seen across the autumnal brown of a ploughed field. Except that this image was taken in March. Autumn and spring really mirror each other, each a seasonal transition between summer and winter at the equinoxes, when day and night are equal, and the weather still has one foot in the previous season while striding towards the next. The same photo could have been taken in October – the same grey fog and damp earth. But whereas October is a time of gathering gloom and forthcoming darkness and cold, when folk look indoors for entertainment and batten down the hatches, March a is full of hope and optimism, a time to look outwards in expectation of light and warmth and new growth across the countryside. Same image, but such different expectations.
Here weather has barely dipped a toe in spring. But I have faith it will change. Like this as it is true that the changing weather in spring and fall makes for some wonderful shot and both have color just different one a blaze of glory the other the soft colors of hope.
This one really is lovely to me. Just this week I noticed a group of trees against a hillside and thought how much it looked like an autumn scene; how similar they were in color.
