One of our favourite walks in the countryside around @ros3 ‘s home takes down into a valley, past wildlife ponds and along a narrow path that winds through woodland which at this time of the year is thick with green wild garlic leaves decorated with large patches of wood anemones. The path follows the valley above the river, rocky is some places, and wet with mud in others as the path crosses small rivulets trickling down to the river. Eventually the path descends to the river, which can be crossed using stepping stones, a special place where for many years we photographed my sons sitting on a particular branch, and so have a record of their childhood visits to their Aunt as they grew up. Finally the path climbs out of the trees to wide open fields with dry stone walls and farm buildings, and moorland just a couple of stone walls away, and we have to keep an eye out for grazing horses, keeping the dog leads handy as we head back home.
