With some cool nights over the last few days, morning walks have been damp and dewy underfoot, with an almost autumnal feel, although not unpleasant. The grassy tracks are carpeted with white spiders webs, each thread opaque with tiny water droplets, and the grasses and wildflowers glisten, as though emerging into the sunshine after a short sharp shower. We try to keep to the rabbit-cropped short turf – meandering into the long grasses of the less frequented routes results in returning home with soaking knees!
