Granite just for the taking by shepherdman

Granite just for the taking

Another morning shot of Croft Hill and quarry face. Within the next few years the quarry will need to expand sideways – the angle of the sides means that the company cannot just keep digging deeper from the same sized hole. The plan is to move the quarry buildings, and thousands of tons of soil to expose the granite. From this point of view you can see how tempting it must be for the quarry company to excavate Croft Hill – Just a couple of cm of turf to remove to expose the rock. It was proposed by a previous company 20 years ago, The present company encourages the public to enjoy the Hill, and we hope the Croft Hill is here to stay. We certainly hope so – Croft Hill separates our home from the dust and noise of the quarry.
Very pretty! I like the layers of color.

Love the warm colours, the trees on the horizon, the tons in the sky and especially the moon. Hope Croft Hill stays, especially for you. We need all our lovely 'green' spaces.

I hope so too for your sake! Love the layering of the clouds and the half-moon shaped trees to match the half moon!

Beautiful & warm colour of the stone. Great catch of the moon too.

Lovely light, I like the horizontal wispy clouds and the moon. I hope the hill stays. Changing the landscape in this way can lead to all sorts of problems.
