At 6.45am this morning, I put down the paper and contemplated a short walk with the dogs for elderly Lesia’s benefit, thus leaving me time to take Tia on a longer walk, to arrive at the wildlife pond in time for sunrise. On hearing my plan,@shepherdmanswife abandoned her routine of getting to work early, and announced that she would join me. That would be nice, I tell her. Next moment she has opened the curtains, seen a pink sky, and is off running up the Lane, tripod under her arm, leaving a trail of breath floating behind her in the frosty air. Tia and I eventually followed, after a short stroll on frozen fields with Lesia, and I saw the sunrise over the Leicestershire countryside from the quarry edge, before descending the steps to the wildlife pond, where I find @shepherdmanswife bemoaning the fact that she had missed the best sky colours. I saw the sunrise for a second time from this lower level, but no nice reflections tis time – the pond was frozen.
Ha ha ha, your story really made me laugh, I have the vision in my head of your wife frantically running up the lane trying to catch the sun. The ice on the pond really adds something to this beautiful shot.
Well you had the better end of it I think - a quiet stroll with canine company and this beautiful shot to finish with... and no breathless running involved!
What a beautiful sunrise, funny how it could also be a sunset I think. I love your narrative of your morning adventure. So wish my husband was into photography but alas he says he has no patience to wait for that perfect capture.
Fascinating because now the sun rises at about 6:40 and if you were only leaving your house at 6:45 you would have missed it. I walk now in the morning but as it is frigid outside I walk at Wal-Mart's not lovely views like this. So try to walk early enough to get out to the back roads and catch the beautiful golden hour of light.
