Wellbourne Parish Church

I loved this engraving on the door of Wellbourne All Saints Parish Church, Norfolk, At first I thought that the image was of Mary, Mother of Christ, but I'm not sure what she is holding, nor the significance of the moon. Google didn't enlighten me. Can anyone else? I opted for b/w, because I didn't want the green of the tree seen behind the image to detract from the engraving.

That image seems to me to have Pagan origins. Certainly the moon, for the goddess and possible the horned man, lord of the forest - Herne. Not the usual image for a Christian church !
