Last of the red hot poppies by shepherdman

Last of the red hot poppies

The poppy season has been over for quite a few week, but there are still isolated small specimens, maybe a different variety, sheltering in the lee of the wheat crop, yet to be harvested. This was taken a couple of days ago during the pre-work dog walk, whilst lying on my tummy with Tia sitting patiently beside me. I was in a different world lying on the ground, trying different shots. Unexpected escapism.
I like the contrast with the browned grasses.

I find it quite hard to do poppies justice but you've caught the deep red papery petals beautifully. Fav
