Early autumn? by shepherdman

Early autumn?

Autumn colors in August? The foliage on these trees go brown in late summer every year, the senescence gradually migrating inwards from the leaf edges. By this time of the year quite a few leaves have fallen. When we first moved to the area I thought that the trees were diseased and doomed, but for thirteen years, and probably many years before then, they have happily come back into green leaf each spring. The trees are close to the quarry edge (hence the fence), with solid granite not far below the surface, and so the symptoms of early autumn might be due to dehydration.
Weather is crazy .. we have had a few day's that are very spring like .., but I think it is just trying to trick us and winter will be back.. Pretty scene..

Lovely capture of the dappled light & colours. You are possible right about the ground being dry causing early autumn.

A peaceful setting. Our trees do the same. Never sure whether it's too much or too little water, but I think it's just the whims of Mother Nature.

Nice shot I was thinking on my commute home tonight that some of the trees were starting to turn although none of them to this degree!

I was just noticing some changes here today, too. Nicely composed.
