Staying, along with @shepherdmanswife, in Yorkshire with my sister. Both ladies are enthusuastic wildlige photographers - Tia and I sometimes get banned from walks because we scare away the lesser-spotted-thingy-bird, or whatever specimen they are after. And so we head off on our own route, quite content with common or garden mallards swimming in the lake close to me sister's home.
Maybe you should get Tia a bit of wildlife training. I used to have a Border Coliie and she was wonderful at finding but not harming wildlife. In Scotland Capercallies and Ptarmigan and families of Reindeer hiding in the heather. On one occasion I found a family of Reindeer somewhere unusual and told the owners / keepers about them. I was told there were none over there and dismissed as a stupid southern tourist who didn't know the difference between Reindeer and Red Deer.
They now ask for sighting from anywhere in the Cairngorms.
