Out and about before breakfast to see early sunshine on the hills opposite the Village Inn, where we spent our last night in Scotland. Just as well – it was the last sunshine of the day. Despite our destination being Yorkshire, we naturally headed north (after an excellent Full Scottish Breakfast) in the vain hope of seeing sunlight on the slopes of Glencoe. We were not alone – lay-bys with the best views were full of tour buses. With the low cloud it didn’t really matter what the view was. We turned back south after an hour or so, and the sun returned in full glory as we crossed the border into England, with lovely evening sunshine as we crossed the Yorkshire Dales.
