A hint of mist this morning, and a distinct chill in the air. Oh well, the summer was excellent while it lasted, and there is still time for an "Indian Summer". A small group of six or seven cows, not really enough to be a herd, are grazed on Croft Hill from mid summer onwards, keeping the weeds at bay, allowing wild flowers to flourish in spring. As is often the case, this mornings walk ended on Croft Hill, where the cows were grazing peacefully by the stile onto the Hill. The dogs were safely on a lead well before we got to the stile, just in case the cows had chosen "our" side of the Hill for breakfast.
