No snow here in South Leicestershire, apart from a slight sprinkling dusting the ground. We have had hard frosts though, which at least means mud-free dogs. This quarry road is normally distinctly squidgy and a route to be avoided in winter. Minutes before taking this, as we approached the road, Tia suddenly paused, ears up, and a fox trotted out from behind a hedge just a few feet in front of us. The fox looked at Tia, and Tia looked at the fox, who headed off across the field at a steady trot. Tia chose not to pursue, which tells me that, for her, the smell of fox is nothing unusual. She certainly has a nose for any fox poo that is available for rolling in.....
lovely view - and yes, walking today I chose a path that is often too muddy to walk at this time of year, because it was frozen solid, and came home with relatively clean boots.
