Blackthorn Blossom

At this time of the year the hedgerows are dominated by blackthorn blossom, which always appears before the leaves. In Autumn we will be visiting these hedgerows in search of the the fruit - sloes, to make slow gin.

Lovely. Our blackberries are blooming with abandon, but I don't think we have blackthorn here. Whatever one, they sure put on a display for springtie.
