Foxglove by shepherdmanswife

Foxglove

I was looking for inspiration around the garden and looked up into a foxglove with the sun lighting the flowers from behind. There in three of the flowers I was amazed to see two neat rows of eggs. I wonder what they belong to and what will they hatch out as? I'll have a look each day and see if I can catch the hatching......
Love how you've drilled into the trumpet of these and the lighting is superb !

Mrs Shepherdman, sorry to disappoint, but they are not eggs. Well not yet. They are the anthers of the Foxglove and hopefully a bee will come along and brush up against them to get the pollen off and take that to another flower for pollination. So stick around with your macro and get a bee shot instead? Oh and is that a tiny spider I see? Black and in the centre? Up a little and to the right?

You have a new follower now.

@bobfoto I feel embarrassed now! Thanks for pointing that out though. I welcome your comments and criticism. Thank you for following. Yes it was a spider.

@shepherdmanswife - Oh no need to be embarrassed, unless you happen to be a teacher of botany? Which I am not by the way, but I do know a little bit about the reproductive world of plants. Liking the thumbnail for your Gerbera shot. Off to go look.
