I haven't time today to take a photo so am filling in with this one that I took on 17th May this year when our local granite quarry buildings caught fire. If you have time to look at this large you can just make out some flames on the conveyor belt. That poor fireman...every time he thought he'd put the fire out it just popped back up somewhere else along the belt that carries the granite along to the next part of the process. We live 100 yards away from this quarry where they blast every day Monday to Friday. Our house shakes when the blasting takes place. Door frames tend to move making doors stick at times, but apart from that and a few cracks in the mortar, after 80 years our house is still standing.
We do get an awful lot of dust in the house. I can't keep up with it, so I wasn't too upset when the rumours started about the quarry having to close down because of the damage caused by the fire. Unfortunately they are still blasting every day so repairs were made and they carry on for at least another 20 years when the rock will run out :(
Great shot and good for you for getting it into the papers! That's the first thing I thought of when I saw it. Good photo for the newspaper.
Can't imagine living that close to a factory like that.
