Muffin who was featured 2 days ago has been very popular (thanks to you all for getting her to PP) so I thought you might like to meet Inca, her house-mate!
Inca is a Somali which is a long hair version of the Abyssinian. Her colouring is called 'Usual'. She looks like a small fox! She is too friendly and I worry that she might go off with anyone who gives her attention! She follows me around if I don't give her the attention she wants, and will leap through the air to get on my shoulders for a ride! My friend had the fright of her life when cat-sitting for me, when Inca landed on her shoulder without warning! Unfortunately Inca only has the use of 3 of her legs as she broke one of her front ones a couple of years ago and although the bone mended, the nerve didn't, so the muscles wasted away. She still walks on it, but it collapses under her. The vet says its ok to leave her like that so long as her leg doesn't get damaged. At that point, it may have to be amputated. She's not bothered though. She still catches birds and mice! We still have to make her housebound for the month of June when the baby birds are learning to fly to give them a fair chance of survival! I've never had a cat that is so loving and attention seeking and so full of character. It's almost like owning a small dog!
Lovely! I thought she was a fox from the thumbnail. It's amazing how different the personalities of cats can be. I have a plain old ginger tabby cat who thinks he's a dog. He waits by the sidewalk for his regulars to come by and pet him, and he follows me to the grocery store down the block and usually waits for me to come out!
Lovely portrait of this sweet-faced pussycat with such gorgeous fur. Glas you keep her indoors when the little birds are learning to fly. Congrats on Muffin`s making the PP!
Those are such friendly eyes, I like her twisted pose, so cute when the front goes one way and the back the other; I also think that is a sign of true contentment for a cat
Fave! I've always hoped to have a Somali someday, so beautiful and that personality!! I have a cat, featured often in my 365, that was born with three legs. He does just fine, but we do keep him indoors, other than the balcony.
That's total love of attention shining back at you. Many years ago I had a cat, and from a kitten I would carry him around draped around my neck. So similar thing, when he got older he would just from anywhere appear if you bent down a little, that was a sign. Problem was he use to do it so many unsuspecting people also
@nanalisarocks Thanks for the Fave Lisa. If you ever get a Somali it will be desperate to go out'. They don't make good indoor cats as they love to be outside exploring. The only problem with that is they are not street wise. They will stand in the middle of the road and flutter their eyelashes at oncoming cars! So, if you live in the country that's fine, but wouldn't advise it if you live near a busy road!
@bardejov Yes she is unusual. Have you heard of the Devon Rex? I have one of those too! She has a curly soft coat (no top coat like normal breeds of cat). Will put a photo of her on soon....
@gigiz Yes, she is adorable and adores me too! But, like you said about yours, she does the same and flies through the air to land on visitors that are not expecting it. Frightens them, but it's so funny to see
@shepherdmanswife@bardejov The Devon & Cornish Rex are both reduced allergy cats but generally people tend to develop a tolerance for their own cats and mild or intermittant allergies can diminish over time. - and an Inca or Muffin would be so very worth it! So gorgeous!
